1. Justin Herbert & Madison Beer Are Engaged. The Chargers QB popped the question to the Grammy-nominated pop star. Both Pisces, birthdays five days apart, and — per Victoria — one of the more believable romances in the NFL/pop-star crossover universe (joining Olivia Culpo & Josh Allen, Taylor & Travis, and the now-ended Cardi B & Stefon Diggs). Herbert is signed through a five-year, $262.5M extension; his 2026 salary of $24M is fully guaranteed.

2. Jalen Carter Is Now the Highest-Paid Defensive Tackle Ever. A four-year, $152M extension (worth up to $160M, $106M guaranteed) makes Carter the highest-paid DT in NFL history at $38M/year. Victoria also revisits a difficult chapter from his time at Georgia, a fatal car crash involving a teammate and a staffer following the team's national title celebration, and the toll it's taken on him since.

3. Vita Vea Wants Out of Tampa: The Bucs DT requested a trade after extension talks fell through, he's in the final year of his deal with no guaranteed money left. Kyle Shanahan Comes Forward After His Car Crash: The 49ers head coach was seriously injured in a mid-July collision, with a broken nose, three ribs, a broken hand, 40 stitches, and a severe concussion. Initially reported as the other driver's fault, Shanahan corrected the record himself this week, taking responsibility for the crash.

In case you missed it, game days are for her. Hey girls, it's Victoria. Welcome back to the show. We are gonna get into this week's installment of the Pick Six, which are the best, most fun, most interesting, or best stories from the NFL each week. But before we do that, we're gonna do a little bit of an update and some housekeeping. You may have seen already or heard from last week that the game is now her game days. And I think it just so much more accurately represents what we do and our mission over here and the goal of bringing girls together through the lovely world of technology, but also in real life. And I feel like the game is a name that I really, really love. And honestly, I'm kind of sad to do away with. But I think her game days really encompasses the community, the feeling of game day, the feeling of being with your friends and with your community on game day and our group chat and our fantasy leagues. Like game days being ours as the girls is extremely important, especially as younger girls grow up and get more into sports, sports media, watching sports, having them be represented and having them feel like watching the NFL isn't just joining a giant boys club. So we are officially her game days, the football social club. If you are new here, this is for any female fans. Whether you are a fan because you love watching the outfits on game day, it's your very first season of fantasy. Maybe you got into it through a boyfriend or a husband or a mom, even, um, a parent. Or if you have been a diehard fan for some time now, this is also for you. We have so many girls who I have learned from, honestly, even been intimidated by some of the knowledge bases that some girls in this community have, which I'm maybe intimidated isn't the right word. Maybe the right word really is inspired by. And I just think it's really cool that it being our game day, we're women and we're very dynamic. And that's also what I want this community to be. So if you've been here since the jump, thank you for being here. If you're new, game days are for her, game days are for us. If you didn't know, I actually got into the NFL because I lost a bet on a second date, and I became a Detroit Lions fan that night, and me and that boyfriend ended up dating for two and a half years. So I really dove in, got my first jersey, started watching, started paying attention, and realized that I kept having like these quippy, funny remarks during the game that my boyfriend would like laugh at. But I was like, gosh, if I had a girlfriend to watch with, this would be so much better. Also, I'm not a big beer girl. I get like really bloated with beer. I still drink it when I want to, but it's never my first choice. Like, if I'm in a brewery, I'll lean in, but it's never my first choice. And that also made me realize like, I cannot be the only girl who's disappointed when like I either get a crazy strong cocktail that's like maybe not that great at a stadium, or I'm kind of choosing from the beer selection. I do love a good corona though, but I digress. I was really looking for a community of women and female friendships that went beyond just traditional game day in the male-dominated space. And that is where her game days came from. Honestly, I posted on Instagram does anybody want to start a podcast with me? And that really blew up, just showing me there's so many women who are in the exact same boat that I was, got into it through a partner and have really kind of been in that partner's circle instead of their own. And so I want her game days to be a place where truly you don't need a partner. You don't need, we don't, we just don't need men here, you know. Like I have since uh that relationship ended, and after it ended was when her game days was born. And now I am affiliated as a fan of the Lions out of like my choice and desire, and because of that community, and because I like love and respect that team, but not just because of a man. And I know there's gotta be at least a few of you who got into it through a relationship and are no longer relationship. So if that's you, hey, I see you. If you've been a lifelong fan, a diehard fan, honestly, thanks for being here. Um I love learning from you. I love getting to know you. I love leaning into the traditions that you have created, hearing what your game day rituals look like. Because those lifelong diehards, you guys are so, it's so fun. It is so fun. And it's something that I want to create for my family when I have one to have like really strong game day traditions. So, all of that being said, game days are for her. I am going to Rams training camp on Monday. That will be my first ever training camp experience. I'm going just as a regular participant, and I'm so excited just to see what training camp is like. I currently have tickets to four different training camps, which I'm so excited for because I love comparing different stadiums, different team experiences. So I will update you on how those go next week and anything that I pick up on. Let's get into our pick six for the week, the top six stories around the NFL that you need to know. And because we are ramping up and season is getting into swing, all 32 teams have officially reported to training camp as of Tuesday, today, the 28th. So by yesterday, when you guys are listening to this, so all of our teams are in training camp, which means things are heating up. So we're gonna do our pick six, and then I'm gonna do a rapid fire of just news you should know, news the girl should know, um, at the end of this episode, because there's just so much to cover and so much going on. It got hard to pick my top six stories. Our first story. Speaking of teams in LA, but not the Rams, the Chargers, Justin Herbert put a ring on it. Justin Herbert and Madison Beer, the Grammy nominated pop star, are now engaged. He posted it on Instagram with the caption, Meet My Fiance, and it's a photo dump of him on one knee in a flower-filled outdoor setting. Looked very classy to me. I'm not always one to like love the huge signs. I think Madison is like a very classy, feminine girl, and I think this was absolutely gorgeous. Um, huge diamond on her left finger, uh, on her left hand. So Herbert is a Pisces and Madison Beer is also a Pisces. Their birthdays are about five days apart. I listened to her on Therapus actually last week. I think the episode came out in June, but I was driving with my sister across the country. So we listened to it, and the episode's really good. You learn a lot about her. They talk a lot about like mental health and her tour, which was a really fun listen. So if you're looking to get into more of like who is Madison Beer, that episode is really fantastic. And then hopefully we'll have her on as a guest here on her game days soon. But they are both Pisces born five days apart, and she had mentioned that they had a little joint birthday party. I also think that we knew that they were end game, like from the jump. You can like tell a lot of times if it's like showy or if it's seems real. And to me, they've just seemed really real, like really in it from the jump, probably from the Instagram captions that they had. A little more info on Justin Herbert. He is a quarterback for the Los Angeles Chargers. He is on the back half of a five-year $262.5 million contract extension he signed in 2023. His 2026 salary of $24 million is fully guaranteed. In terms of his stats, last year, 3,727 passing yards, 26 touchdowns on a 66.4% completion, 13 interceptions, which was his highest total since 2021. Madison is from Jericho, New York, and she was discovered at 13 by Justin Bieber. She got her start on YouTube, and he reposted her cover of an Etta James song. She's had two Grammy nominations since 30 million Instagram followers, a memoir, and a third studio album, Locket, that dropped in January. That now she is touring and claying, which is so fun. Justin Herber met her on the set of her music video in August 2025 and kept they started dating, kept it really, really quiet. And then they kissed on the Chargers sideline before a week five game. How we all kind of found out about it. So this is like a true we're adding to the NFL player pop star romances. And I love it because we have Olivia Copo dating Josh Allen. We have Taylor and Travis, of course. We have Madison and Justin. We had Cardi B and Stefan Diggs, RIP to that relationship. But I think we're happy for Cardi. I'm like, I mean, I feel happy for Cardi. I don't want to speak for all of us, but like I think we should be happy for Cardi because Stefan, uh, it's a little a little messy. And I'm sure there's a couple other that I'm forgetting, but the notable ones, I really like the storyline behind it. Justin and Madison. Oh my gosh. And I how did I almost forget? Did you guys see that picture last year of them on the sidelines of it? It was a basketball game, and Justin is like protecting Madison from the ball, and it's like probably one of the hottest like NFL slash pop star pictures ever. If you haven't seen it, you have to go see it. Let's move on. Story number two: we have a highest paid alert. Jalen Carter is now the highest paid defensive tackle ever, with a very complicated backstory, actually, that I didn't know. So he is an Eagles defensive tackle to a four-year $152 million extension worth up to $160 million with $106 million guaranteed. That was announced on July 28th. So it is the highest deal for a defensive tackle in NFL history, both in total guarantees and average annual value, $38 million a year. We just said that Justin Herbert is at $26 million a year or $24 million a year here in 2026. So $38 million a year. And then highest paid quarterback in the league, Dak Prescott at $60 million a year. The $38 million is a big number and out pays him more than a lot of quarterbacks in the NFL, actually. Carter is an Aries. He's born on April 4th, 2001, and his contract goes through 2031. He was Philadelphia's number nine overall pick in 2023, made second team all pro in 2024, and was part of the Eagles Super Bowl winning roster. What's really interesting, he was on the Super Bowl winning roster, but last year was really not his best year. Three sacks, 33 total tackles, 21 solo, 12 assisted, plus 30 quarterback curries and eight hits, which given the size of this deal, those stats seem pretty low. So I think that they are buying into not only his stats, but his presence, his contributions to the team, otherwise. Um, and then also what he's doing to the pocket, not just in terms of sacks, but what he's doing in the pocket to keep quarterbacks from, you know, thrown bombs and everything. Really interesting story. I I feel a little sad to bring this one up, to be honest, because it is a long time ago story for him. So before he was an Eagle, he pleaded no contest to a misdemeanor for reckless driving and racing charges. So in January 2023, his Georgia teammate and a staffer at Georgia, so teammate Devin Wilcock and staffer Chandler LaCroix, the team celebrated its second straight national title, and they were racing, and there was a crash that took both his teammate Devin and the staffer Chandler. So Carter Jalen was in a separate car, and he got 12 months probation, a $1,000 fine, community service, and a defensive driving class, but no jail time. And since then, he's spoken publicly about the toll that day took on him. So really, really sad. Yeah, it's kind of one of those situations where I don't have any words. Like I feel sad adding that in. Um, you know, there's obviously we don't know about any like retribution from the families or anything like that, but it seems like they were racing. And unfortunately, um they crashed. So really, really sad to win a national title and then have that happen to your friend and somebody on the staff. Also, just note um therapy is really important, and I'm sure that he has support and had support. Um, you know, it's a couple years ago at this point, but has had support through the team. But just a reminder, um, it's just really sad. And then you think about him winning championships from from that point forward and how he'll feel in those moments. So that's what's going on now. Highest defensive tackle in NFL history, and we will see what he does in this coming year. The Eagles really need some W's at this point. Story number three Vita Vea wants out of Tampa. I love the name Vitavea. I love it. I feel like Vita Vea needs to be a like if they wanted to do like a canned cocktail, Vita Vea would be like a what's the coconut drink? Not a Mai Thai. You guys know what I'm talking about. Uh it has a pineapple on it. Anyway, Vita Vea makes me think of a canned coconut pineapple cocktail on vacation. So if you need an idea for a new business Vita, you just call me and we can talk through it. He wants to go home. So he is currently in Tampa and he requested a trade on Monday, July 27th after his contract extension talks kind of fell apart for his agent Colin Roberts. He's an Aquarius and he was born in Milp Milpitas. Miltus. How do I not know this? I'm from California. Um, but from California and plays defensive tackle for Tampa Bay. He is in the final year of a four-year $71 million deal that he signed in January of 2022, set to make $17 to $18 million in 2026. But none of it is guaranteed. So I would probably be asking to go somewhere else as well if I'm getting no guaranteed money in the final year of my contract because I feel like guaranteed money is an engagement ring. Like guaranteed money is an engagement ring because it's saying I love you. I am committed to you being successful. I am committing to showing you that I believe in you and truly believe in your value. And not giving that is kind of just being non-committal. Like they should go on the ultimatum, which I don't endorse that show, but I did watch a lot of it recently. So they need to go on the ultimatum, but I guess that's what he's doing, right? He's saying pay me or trade me and asking for a trade. He specifically wants to go to the Raiders or a California team because he grew up in California, played at Washington, and has never played an NFL game on the West Coast. So I get it. Honestly, I get it. Like I live in Miami now, but I'm in California at the moment to be with my family, and I want to be able to work where I live. So it's kind of like an emotional story. His last year's stats in 2025, four and a half sacks, 34 tackles in all 17 games, plus 13 quarterback hits. So it's not like he was performing like crazy last year, which is probably gonna make it hard to trade to the West Coast because let's think about it, Seattle top of they won Super Bowl, top of the line. Rams definitely going for another Super Bowl run, especially with Miles Garrett now. Matt Stafford's definitely ending, but he's playing as if he's in his prime. You know, you got Puka Nakua on on the Rams if he can keep his stuff together. Then you have the 49ers. We're gonna talk about Kyle Shanahan later, but you have the 49ers who, even though they were completely injury-ridden last year, they have one of the best systems in the NFL. There's not very many places where you can plug and play different players kind of at the drop of a hat and still have a winning record. And then the Raiders, I mean, you can go to the Raiders, which honestly might not be the worst thing in the world right now because it's not like his numbers he could really take after last season. It's not that enticing of a deal, I feel like, with the talent that exists. But if they want someone seasoned, if the Raiders wanna, you know, bring in someone seasoned that really wants to be there, then that's probably maybe a benefit. Okay, Vita Via to the Raiders. Question mark? Let me know what you guys think. Let's move on. Story number four: Daniel Jones uh went from hurt and sad in the middle of an excellent 2025 season to the richest two-year contract in NFL's history, and now he is healthy again. So Colts quarterback Daniel Jones confirmed this week ahead of the July 28th training camp that he's fully cleared from the torn Achilles that ended his 2025 season, telling Pat McAfee show he'll be full go to start camp. So he is a Gemini, he plays quarterback for the Indianapolis Colts. And in 2026, in March, he signed a two year $88 million contract worth up to $100 million with incentives, the largest two year contract in NFL history with $50 million guaranteed. So let's talk about his 2025 stats. He played 13 games, three 2,101 passing yards, 19 touchdowns, and a 100.2 passer rating, 68% completion, so a little bit above Justin Herbert, plus five rushing touchdowns, the best statistical season of his career. And I don't know if you guys remember mid kind of like first quarter of last year's NFL season, Daniel Jones and Jonathan Taylor were like the guys to watch. They were absolutely crushing it. I went to the Colts game, that was the international game that I went to, and just electric, you know, to watch them play. And so it's really sad that Daniel Jones had an injury and then ended up tearing his Achilles, you know, similar to the George Kittle story as well. We gotta take care of these Achilles. But they were having such a good season. So it's really exciting to see that he's back. And I hope that they can kind of pick up where they left off. I don't know if this much time has gone past, if that's really reasonable to ask of them, but that's what I would like to see happen. So less than two years ago, he personally walked into the Giants ownership office and asked to be released after being benched, demoted to fourth string, and ended a $160 million contract that never paid off. And then Indianapolis brought him in as a low-cost option and he beat out Anthony Richardson for the starting job. So it's kind of a redemption arc. He had to ask to leave the Giants. He gets picked up by the Colts for little money. He beats out Anthony Richardson, and now he is like the guy for the Colts. Also, if you were here last year, you know that I'm obsessed with Carly Ursay Gordon and the Gordon family because their father passed away and left the team to three girls. And Carly is the owner who had the headset on last year, who was on the field, like dripping in Dior. So we love them and we want them to win because put women in charge and women will do great things. And please uh make her proud. Literally, make her proud. Story number five: Kyle Shanahan was in a head-on-head car crash that resulted in him needing 40 stitches above his right eye, a severe concussion, and broken nose and broken three ribs. And today, the 28th, he came forward to say that it was his fault. So Kyle Shanahan is the 49ers head coach. He the crash was initially reported as the other driver's fault, a 21-year-old woman accused of an unsafe left turn. But today, Kyle Shanahan called reporters into his office and corrected the record. He said that he took his eyes off of the road searching for a phone that had fallen between the seats. He crossed the center line and hit her car at roughly 20 miles an hour. He said the official collision database had the fault backwards due to a clerical error, and hearing the other driver take the blame for something he did crushed him. So honestly, I love that he set the record straight. I think that integrity does matter. I think integrity in the NFL. We hear so much about arrests, affairs, cheating rumors, um, people having DV cases, people being shady about things, people like swerving around the truth. And this just feels really stand-up of him to set the record straight. I think it's just like a like it's like the morally correct thing to do. And honestly, I like Kyle Shanahan. I really like what he's done at the 49ers. I think their system is incredible. And I really like to see, you know, that he's like, hey, we can't, we can't let somebody else take the blame for something that I did or something that was my fault. So they're in training camp now, but he had a severe concussion, the 40 stitches, the broken ribs, the broken nose. So I assume that he will be out for a bit of time recovering. Our last story of the day, this one is challenging as well as kind of details are developing. It's really sad. So we're just gonna stick to the facts here with no opinions. We're gonna stick to the facts and we are going to give good energy to this coach at the Chiefs. So Eric Bienemi, the offensive coordinator of the Chiefs, his wife was shot by their son. Mia is his wife, 57 years old. She was shot multiple times in the chest and arm at the couple's home in Ashburn, Virginia on Sunday night, July 26th. She underwent surgery and is now in stable condition, said uh Andy Reid, the chief's head coach. And he addressed it publicly, calling her a saint. The couple's 27-year-old son, Elijah Zion Bianini, was arrested and charged with malicious wounding, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, and discharging a firearm inside a dwelling. He's being held without bond in the Loudoun County Adult Detention Center. His preliminary hearing is set for August 31st, and his arraignment has been continued. Investigators have described the shooting as domestic in nature, but no motive has been made public and reporting has been limited due to the what's in the court filings and law enforcement statements. So we don't have a fuller narrative. So Eric, the coach, is in his second stint as a chief's offensive coordinator, and he has stepped away from training camp at the moment to address the situation with his wife and his family. So we hope that Mia recovers well and is okay. You know, I feel like this is one of those times where you're just grateful for modern medicine, and we hope that Eric and Mia can both manage this well. And, you know, we're we're sending them good energy. This is obviously an incredibly challenging situation to deal with. Those are our top six stories of the week. As I mentioned, because there's so much going on in the NFL. We're gonna do a little rapid-fire speed round of the other important information stories that you should know this week. Brian O'Neal, a 30-year-old Vikings right tackle, got a $96 million extension through 2030. He is protecting the quarterback's blind side. Jacoby Brisket, 33-year-old Cardinals quarterback, got a raise to $15.5 million as Arizona's presumative starter heading into training camp. Aaron Rodgers has confirmed that there is zero debate that 2026 is his last season and revealed that his secret wife, Brittany Greenlit, one more year. Still to this date, everyone has said that they have not met her. Tyree Kill, 32-year-old Dolphins wide receiver, but current free agent, is escalating his divorce. She cited a stroke was the reason why she was delaying, and he is requesting that his ex-mother-in-law provides documentation of that. That is seeming to become a messy divorce, and Tyreek Hill has had multiple accusations of domestic violence in his past. Then we have Ryan Gold, the Arizona Cardinals director of college scouting, who was promoted in June 25th, 2025, his 13th season with the team, but he has an indefinite ban for leaking 2026 draft picks and parlay betting on NFL and college games. He's appealing, and his attorney is calling the allegations blatantly false. Then we have a deportation case. Daniel Adongo, 37 years old, ex-Cults linebacker. He played 2013 to 2015, was deported this week over a visa overstay and a criminal record. Then we have Mac Collins shows up. 32-year-old Patriots wide receiver shows up to training camp shirtless and barefoot. Patrick Mahomes, 30-year-old Chiefs quarterback, was seen with his wife Brittany Mahomes partying beachside with NBA stars LeBron James and Kevin Durant. And then finally, Ben Steele, a 48-year-old Commander's tight end coach, was fired today after a DWI arrest back on June 7th in Virginia. He's facing DWI refusal of a blood and breath test, uh obstruction charges, all class one misdemeanors with a court disset for August 13th. He just joined Washington on this offseason after three years as the Cardinals tight end coach. So that is what's going on in the NFL this week.
